A sweet pup named Harvy Tyke has broken a sad record at a South Carolina animal shelter. On Monday, the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare shared photos of Harvy Tyke, explaining that he has been returned more times than any other dog:

Harvy Tyke may have broken the saddest record after being brought back to the SPCA for the SEVENTH time! 😔

Amazingly, Harvy Tyke is only 11 months of age…and he has never known the stability of a permanent home. Harvy was first brought to the shelter as a stray in May 2021. In the months that followed, he was adopted and returned six times.

The shelter explained why handsome Harvy keeps coming back.

The main reasons for his returns are that he is an active guy who likes adventures. Though this has been relayed to each adopter, he keeps getting brought back for being “too active” or for the adopter having “not enough time.”

Amazingly, each adopter has been informed that Harvy is an active puppy...and each time his adopters have ignored that fact. The adoptions and returns are taking a toll. The shelter said:

Being adopted and returned repeatedly is highly stressful and we are very lucky Harvy has stayed as sweet and lovable through it all. Can you truly commit to Harvy Tyke? He would do best in a home without cats or small children and would like to meet your doggie friends to make sure he’s the right fit.

Information to adopt:
