Milly was brought into a Texas shelter one week ago.  She had been found  in the Rio Grande Valley after having been run over by a car, dragged and left at the entrance of a small rural shelter. Because of the seriousness of her injuries and the shelter’s limited budget, Milly had been scheduled to be euthanized.

“This poor puppy is in critical condition; she cannot walk on her 2 front legs. You can see how damaged they are, one leg is ripped open to the bone, the other is so swollen,” the rescue’s co-founder Stacey Silverstein posted on social media along with graphic photos of Milly’s injuries.

Rescue Dogs Rock NYC came to her aid as soon as the shelter reached out for help. The dog was rushed to a San Antonio veterinary hospital for life saving treatment; sadly Milly’s condition has been listed as critical. Extensive x-rays and examinations by the medical team diagnosed the young dog with bilateral radius and ulna fractures. In addition her left paw was degloved – and will require daily bandage changes for months until it heals.  At this time, it is unknown if the one leg can be saved.

Milly will need to specialized surgeries with an extensive stay at the hospital. This will be an expensive undertaking, but helping to make Milly’s life healthy and pain free are worth all the efforts.
