In Slidell, Louisiana, the Humane Society of Louisiana is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the death of a puppy alleged to have been dragged on Sunday evening. Jeff Dorson, spokesperson for the non-profit organization, stated a couple had been driving on Highway 433 when they spotted a Silverado or GMC pickup truck with a puppy tethered to the back of the vehicle being dragged down the road.
According to WgnoNews, the couple followed the pickup truck to a gas station parking lot and claimed the driver stated the puppy dragged to his death was all an “accident,” at which time the driver unchained the gray pit bull and left its body lying on the side of the road. The witnesses also noticed a second black male in the passenger side of the vehicle with another, larger male pit bull whose ears had been clipped. That dog was also tethered in the back of the truck.
The witnesses took several photos and turned them over to authorities.
Individuals, foundations and businesses may also contribute to the reward fund by contacting the Humane Society at 1-901-268-4432. Anyone with information about the identity of the driver or the puppy is asked to contact the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985.809.8200. Please share this article and help an innocent puppy find justice.
