In South Texas, a disturbing act of animal abuse occurred late last week as rescuers reported a dog had been thrown in front of a piece of moving farm machinery. As a result of the intentional cruelty, the dog’s belly had been ripped open exposing his intestines, witnessed literally falling out of his body. When told of the egregious situation, an animal rescuer rushed to the dog’s aid and transported him to an emergency veterinarian hospital.
“This dog was just found with his intestines dragging behind him and him starting to chew on them! This was intentionally done to him! He has puncture wounds, and the vet thinks he was picked up by machinery! We are desperately needing donations to get him into surgery! The vet cannot start surgery without $2400 put down!!! Even if I put everything I have it won’t be enough! Please help donate!,” posted Leslie Ysuhuaylas on her Facebook page as she cried out for help on Friday afternoon.
Knowing that Leslie needed a rescue organization to financially support the life saving surgery the dog dubbed Roman needed, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC was asked to help.
“Roman’s rescuer (Leslie) was scrambling for help and reached out to us to see if we could help. Of course, we could not let Roman die because of lack of funds,” stated Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of the organization, who often takes the most serious cases of abuse, neglect and cruelty under their wing.
That day, Roman had successful surgery to repair his “gutted” intestines and is now reported to resting comfortably at the Animal Medical Center of McAllen. There have been no suspects reported. His care adds up to more than $2,400. To help save more dogs just like Roman, please
