In Houston, Texas, an animal cruelty officer found a large abandoned puppy lying on a pile of dirty laundry in a vacant home located in the 200 block of Taranto Lane.
According to the Houston Humane Society Facebook, the dog was immediately transferred to the organization’s Animal Wellness Clinic for emergency care.
“This is one of the most horrific cases of neglect I’ve seen in a long time. It’s heartbreaking to see any animal hurt needlessly, and I cannot imagine how much pain and suffering she has endured already in her short life,” stated spokesperson for the HHS, Monica Schmidt.
The emaciated puppy’s body is covered in mange, and she suffers from multiple intestinal parasites. The chocolate Labrador retriever mix is estimated to be no more than six-months of age. She has been dubbed Bella, and although her health is extremely compromised at this time, the sweet puppy is expected to make a full recovery.
Officers now need the public’s help to bring the owner to justice.
