Matted little dog dumped in Los Angeles neighborhood the night before Easter Sunday

In a Los Angeles neighborhood, a heartless owner abandoned a little dog on Saturday night and never looked back. The poor pup was suffering; his matted coat had been pulling so tightly against his raw and irritated skin, his open wounds were infected, and he had no access to any food or a safe shelter.

A message asking for help alerted Suzette Hall, founder of the nonprofit animal rescue, Logan’s Legacy 29. Suzette and two volunteers arrived to find the dog in such a neglected condition, all of the rescuers just wanted to break down and cry.

When we found him… I can’t even put it into words. So incredibly matted… you couldn’t even see his skin.

Open wounds all over his tiny body. Ticks crawling everywhere.Just absolute neglect and heartbreak.

Suzette named him Cadbury. He was rushed to the rescue organization’s partner veterinarian arriving in grave condition.

The first step towards Cadbury’s treatment was to remove the more than 200 ticks off of him. The next step to follow is surgery in order to remove several of his dewclaws that had grown into his legs and made walking almost impossible and incredibly painful. Cadbury was approved for surgery this morning.

Updates to follow.
