The County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control issued a press release early Friday morning referencing a warrant issued for an animal welfare violation in what the organization has called its largest animal seizure operation.

At 7:00 a.m. a search warrant was served in the 46000 block of 266th Street West in Lake Hughes, California. The animals reportedly were in the custody of Christine De Anda of “Rock N Paws Animal Rescue”.

It is estimated 400 dogs and 300 cats currently on the premises are now being removed.

More than 70 animal control officers and staff were on the premises accompanied by partners from spcaLA, Pasadena Humane and Kern County Animal Services. The county departments of public works, public health and regional planning also responded.

Animals are currently being triaged by veterinary and medical staff. Animals requiring emergency medical care will be transported to veterinary hospitals. The others will be transported to DACC animal care centers for further evaluation and care.

In order to create space for the incoming animals, the DACC will be open additional hours on Sunday, March 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Marcia Mayeda, director of the DACC, is requesting the public’s help to support the rescue and rehabilitation of the animals – either through adoption or donations to the Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation.
