From puppy to adult 365 days in a shelter and still no home

Meet handsome two-year-old Jackson. How can someone so adorable, friendly and smart still be waiting at The City of Mobile Animal Services for a home?

The first photo above is when he arrived at the shelter; the next photo was just taken.

For the last 365 days, Jackson has been waiting patiently for a home. Our hearts break knowing his current home is a cement kennel. He had been a newborn puppy when he first arrived at the shelter, and now the light has slowly been leaving his eyes. Jackson needs a real home.

The shelter describes him as weighing 40 pounds and is great with dogs, cats and people. According to staff members, Jackson is house trained and does get the opportunity to go to sleepovers with volunteers.

His adoption fee has been waved for approved applications.

Please share Jackson’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting Jackson, you can visit the shelter at:

  • 855 Owens St, Mobile, AL 36604
  • Monday–Friday (9:00 AM – 4:30 PM), Saturday (9:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
