At Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a call came in earlier in June about a dog that had been living in an abandoned house and who needed immediate veterinary intervention.
When Donna Lochmann, the chief life-saving officer, and her team rushed out to check on the situation, they found the sweet dog lying on an old mattress. He wagged the tip of his tail to show rescuers he was no threat.

As Donna approached, she saw the dog had a prolapsed rectum and was in urgent need of medical care. The friendly pup trusted everyone immediately and allowed Donna to lead him to her Jeep for the ride back to the medical facility of the non profit organization.
Once in the Jeep, he wanted to sit up front with the air-conditioning blowing on his face, and then to cement his own deal to reassure everyone of his loving intentions, the 53-pound boy crawled right into everyone’s laps.
Here’s the video for the beginning of Reuben Carter’s story:
And here is Reuben Carter now! He is fully healed from the day he was rescued him. He’s short, stocky, and absolutely deserving of a family and a loving home.

He’s 5 years old, 53 pounds and ready for the good life. He’s had to overcome so many obstacles in his life until now. Let’s get him home where he belongs.

Reuben Carter is dog selective and will need a proper introduction with other dogs by our team.
