For a dog who was discarded, confused, and suffering just days ago, this is his second chance. The 17-year-old senior, named Lobster, arrived at NYC Second Chance Rescue late last week as a stray; Animal Care Centers of New York reached out for help.
No one ever came to claim him; we all know what his fate would have been had not a rescue organization stepped forward to help.

Not only had he been a senior stray, he had been suffering from severe medical conditions that required immediate attention. His belly was distended, his ears were bleeding, he is blind, diabetic and completely lost – not because of his age, but because everything he had known in his past was gone.

NYC Second Chance Rescue promised to give him comfort, stability and the safe environment he so desperately needed; and of course the dignity he deserved.
Since arriving at the hospital, he has undergone a full medical workup. Here is where his condition stands.
Lobster is doing better than ever could have been expected.
He is currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection, both manageable. His bloodwork showed a couple of elevated liver values and some enlargement on ultrasound, but internal medicine feel these changes are consistent with an older dog and not something alarming.

Today, everyone is breathing a little easier for Lobster. He made it to NYC Second Chance Rescue, and that changed everything for him.
Keep on keeping on Lobster!
