In Kota, India, at the Mission Paws Rescue, the staff was sure the adoption of a four-year-old Pomeranian named Toothless would be a home where he would be loved, spoiled and cherished. That’s at least what the shelter thought, but just one hour after his new family left with Toothless, they returned the dog to the shelter.
And do you want to know why? They said his mouth smelled bad, and “the entire room was full of his foul mouth smell.”
Two months ago, the toy Pomeranian had been discovered hiding in a factory. He had been hiding from everyone and was barely alive. He was starving, his skin was burned, one leg was broken, and he was full of maggots from a mouth and tooth infection.
This is how he arrived:
Teeny old pomeranian was thrown on streets because his family didn’t want him to die in their home. Old toothless was left in jungle, mauled by dogs and all while he weighed just 3kgs
With maggots eating insides of his mouth, scared with one arm broken, he ran with all his might and his inside an empty factory for five days. Infection runs deep in his skin – his kidneys are affected and he refuses to eat…
No one knows much about his past owners; at first it was thought he was a senior, but further examination showed him to be only four years of age and weighing about eight pounds.
Tanya Singh, the co-founder of the rescue organization immediately agreed to take Toothless back.
He wore his pink shirt, kept wagging his tail and acted his best by following them around. He doesn’t understand why he’s back in a small cage, surrounded by large and scary dogs. Can you help him find a home?
Toothless is extremely friendly with humans and loves being picked up. He’s scared of other dogs but comes around really quick. One can only imagine his heartbreak when he was brought back to the shelter.
Toothless can be adopted globally, just please soon. He would do best with a quiet family and has lots of love to share.
As for the adopters who returned Toothless in just one hour, the Internet did not react kindly towards them. On the rescue’s Instagram page, there were a few less than charming opinions:
It was probably their own breath blowing back in their face. People suck sometimes. Clearly that wasn’t the home for him! I hope he finds all the love he deserves
