Heartbroken: Senior pup’s despair as she tries to disappear in need of compassionate new friend

Spread the love

At the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter in California, a 12-year-old, 12-pound chihuahua seems so broken. Since arriving at the shelter, she has quietly disassociated herself from everyone. Her world seems to have collapsed; it’s not just her spirit, but she also reportedly suffers from an ulcerated mammary gland, a cataract clouding her one eye and a lot of itchy skin left untreated.

And there she is; in a small kennel at a very noisy shelter; and of course, filled with strangers, clanking bowls, dog cries and an environment that surely could frighten any dog twice her size and weight.

A volunteer at the shelter is trying to help her before her time is up at the overcrowded shelter. What better way than to appeal to social media? After all, kind people reading about dogs like this little one often open up their homes and their hearts.

…her body turned against the wall. She doesn’t look up. She doesn’t move. Her speckled gray coat clings tightly to bones that should never be this visible.

The scene is eerily still; heartbreaking in its simplicity…it’s surrender.

Please share this little dog’s plight. She’s tired, but she still has a chance to find love and care, even as a senior. Perhaps she would do best in a quiet home cuddled in a soft blanket, and listen to the soft “I love you” words as she is tenderly stroked. Doesn’t she deserve the comfort of a home? Doesn’t she deserve the veterinarian care she needs to make her comfortable and recuperate?

  1. OMG: how do I get this precious little treasure to Washington state? She needs lots of TLC and we have a pack of 4 senior littles who are all very dog friendly!!! I feel so badly for this precious little girl. She needs to be loved and snuggled, not euthanized just because she exists!!!
