The City of San Antonio Animal Care Services is asking for the public’s help identifying the person(s) responsible for abandoning a defenseless dog locked in a pet carrier on the side of a quiet street.
The distressing situation occurred this past weekend as severe weather had rolled into the San Antonio area. Animal Care Officer Duran responded to a 311 report about a suspicious pet carrier that had been abandoned. When the officer arriver, she found the carrier wedged between two large boulders with heavy rocks placed on top of the carrier.

As Officer Duran opened the carrier, a tiny little survived looked up at her.
And now we meet Stormy; the frightened, scruffy, white pup is now at the San Antonio Shelter and receiving the care she needs.

Stormy is looking for a loving home where she can begin to build her self-confidence. We can only imagine how frightening her experience had been and would do best in a quiet and patient home.
Abandoning a pet is illegal and inhumane, and leaving animals exposed to severe weather only increases the danger they face. Pets depend on people for safety and care.
We know that times are tough, but pet guardians have a responsibility to care for their pets. If you are struggling, please reach out for help. From pet food to spay/neuter and more, ACS can help connect families with resources so they can keep the pets they love.
If you ever witness someone actively abandoning a pet, please report it to 3-1-1 and provide as much information as possible, including photos or videos if it is safe to do so.

Stormie’s adoption information.
