Maximo has been the victim of neglect. Can you believe he’s only five years old? It appears as if he has given up on ever finding what a gentle life should be. He arrived at Palm Valley Animal Society in Edinburg, Texas on June 24, 2025, and no one has come to save him.

Shelter space is running low, and sadly, that means dogs that have been there the longest, are listed to be humanely euthanized without warning.
A volunteer wrote the following about Maximo:
…scarred and covered in raw, irritated patches where fur is missing. …eyes pleading ..
Maximo is currently available for adoption. It’s true his face isn’t “adorable” but his plight is just as heartbreaking as the photo of any other shelter dog. No doubt, Maximo needs veterinary care which includes his skin infections, open wounds and the infections in his eyes. Life on the streets is not easy.

This is so heartbreaking. Why can’t this dog be groomed so that people see the best possible looking boy???
I would take him to our groomer ASAP if I were in Texas. Sadly I am in Washington state and I have tried numerous times to get transport (failed each time). Sometimes the animals were adopted or rescued. Sadly sometimes they were euthanized before I could get transport set up.
