Some dogs leave paw prints on our hearts, and Rocket’s eyes carry the weight of being surrendered by his owner, pain from his injury and perhaps even the realization his time at the overcrowded San Bernardino City Animal Shelter is nearly over.

A588199
Name: Rocket
Species: Dog
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Color: Brown and black
Gender: Male
Age: Approximately 1 year old, Weight 42 pounds

Rocket has been labeled as “Rescue Only” because of the medical concerns…..
His medical notes are as follows:
“Evaluated patient. LAMENESS on right hind leg, still able to place weight and mobilize it. Painful when manipulating but can move limb on own and stabilize it. Patient is in obvious pain. Ocular discharge noted with mild nasal discharge. DISTEMPER TEST is NEGATIVE at this time. Will start pain management and antibiotics for suspect URI symptoms. Is still eating/drinking very minimally at this time. Due to limp and patient unwilling to walk on leash on own, will make recovery and monitoring difficult.”

Please share Rocket’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. A dog is not considered safely rescued until he has left the shelter. So many times, the best laid plans of rescue have fallen through. We always hope for the best, but we always want to make sure the dogs are safe.

Many thanks for reading about Rocket. He deserves a loving home with the best of care.
