In Ann Arbor, Michigan police are asking for the public’s help finding the person(s) responsible for tossing a 10-year-old dog into a dumpster. According to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, officers from the City of Ann Arbor Police Department responded to the 3000 block of Wolverine Drive on Tuesday after someone discovered the dog.

The male pit bull mix had no collar and is not microchipped. He has a large abscess/tumor on the left side of his ribs.
AAPD officers worked with Washtenaw County Animal Control to safely remove the dog from the dumpster. He is currently getting medical treatment at the Humane Society of Huron Valley. The dog is undergoing testing and an examination to diagnose the mass on his side.

Yesterday afternoon we let this guy decompress and got him out for his first walk in the evening, he didn’t seem to want to go far but enjoyed sniffing around and taking treats. He had a big day! Please know that, regardless of how he ended up in the dumpster, the majority of our community is filled with compassionate people like all of you — that always gives us hope, and we hope it does for you as well!
The dog, still not named, is nervous but his caregivers say he is very sweet. To donate to his care and the other homeless dogs who need medical care, attention and just a toy to play with while they wait for their forever homes, please click here.

It is hoped that this sweet dog can be adopted once he’s feeling better, and his health issues are addressed.

Anyone who may recognize the dog or has information about its owner to call the AAPD front desk at (734) 794-6920.
