At The Robin I. Kroogman New Haven Animal Shelter, a heartless person abandoned a dog and left him tied to a fence in southern Connecticut on Monday, during a nor’easter which brought heavy winds and pouring rain to the area.

According to the shelter, the heartbreaking situation has become a recurring issue throughout the city of New Haven.

On the shelter’s Facebook page, the staff shared a message asking for help finding the person who abandoned the dog.

I am making an urgent plea to the public and relevant authorities to assist in identifying the person or persons responsible for this heinous act of animal cruelty.

The photos of the dog, posted by the shelter, showed the dog chained to a chain link fence appearing to be just waiting for his owner to return. The dog is safe at the shelter.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the shelter at 203-946-8110.

Together, we can help ensure the safety and well-being of animals in the community and hold those accountable for such blatant neglect.
