At the Downey Animal Care Center in California, the recent new arrival Buzz has lived to be 18; only to be cast aside in his twilight years. It’s been a lifetime of loyalty for Buzz, and surely his heart has been broken when he was thrown away into the streets as if his life no longer matters.
And now, Buzz is facing euthanasia. He is scared, alone, and his days are numbered unless someone steps in to help this little guy who has been at the shelter – both unwanted and unnoticed.
Why do people abandon their dogs when they get old? Sometimes the dog has health issues, and the family doesn’t want to deal with it either for financial reasons or they just don’t want to be bothered. Once separated from their owners, these seniors often experience a deep sense of loss. Just look at Buzz – his eyes tell us his story of despair and abandonment. These are the dogs who wait day after day for a familiar face. These are the dogs that break our hearts.
Can anyone help Buzz? It’s not known how much longer this little guy will be around, but doesn’t he deserve the kindness and love of someone who cares, no matter if it’s days, weeks, months or maybe another year? Please share his story with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
