At the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency in Modesto, California, a one-year-old German shepherd blend named Rutt had his heart completely shattered when his family brought him to the shelter, turned away and left with barely a nod. Rutt was absolutely terrified of the kennel.

Captured on a TikTok video by dog trainer Dakota @deathtonecanines, Rutt arrived at the shelter on March 6. He wasn’t accustomed to the loud noises which included the clanking or metal bowls, dogs barking and howling and families with children staring and walking around.

Here is when Rutt arrived:

The shelter worker tried to calm Rutt; she can be seen picking him up, gently pushing him into the kennel and then hugging and kissing him to reassure him everything would be alright.

Rutt’s video went viral and many of the viewers commenting were in tears.
