This sweet, loving dog named Zeus Areio is on borrowed time at a NYC shelter. His euthanasia date has been set, but with your help, we can change his fate!

This 2-year-old, 64-pound mixed breed with a heart (and smile!) could melt glaciers. Currently at the Brooklyn ACC animal shelter, Zeus’ time has run out.

Why is Zeus in danger? This energetic and playful pup was surrendered by his previous family because he was “too active.” But Zeus’ boundless energy isn’t a bad thing – it’s a sign of a happy, healthy dog who just needs someone to keep up with him! Imagine all the fun adventures you could have with Zeus by your side!

Here’s what makes Zeus such a special dog:

  • A Lover, Not a Fighter: Zeus’ most striking feature might be his dazzling smile, but his gentle eyes speak volumes about his loving personality. He has no history of biting and thrives on human interaction.
  • A Bright Mind: Don’t let his playful side fool you – Zeus is a quick learner! He’s already mastered basic commands and is eager to please. Training this smart pup will be a rewarding experience for both of you!
  • Family Man: Zeus gets along great with both kids and adults, making him the perfect furry addition to any family. Picture him snuggled up with the kids (older kids please) on movie night or patiently waiting by your side as you cook dinner.
  • The Perfect Gentleman: Zeus may be playful, but he also knows his manners. He allows all handling, including his paws, and walks well on a leash. (although he can pull) Plus, this clean pup loves a good grooming session and will always look his best!

The shelter environment is stressful for Zeus, and his confinement is taking a toll. He needs a loving home where he can feel safe, secure, and showered with affection.

Don’t let this amazing dog be euthanized! Here’s how you can help:

  • Share, Share, Share! The more people who know about Zeus, the better chance he has of finding his forever home.
  • Post this story on social media and spread the word among your friends and family!
  • Open Your Heart and Home: If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will bring endless entertainment (and cuddles!), consider adopting Zeus!
  • Contact the Brooklyn ACC and ask about Zeus Areios ID#181435Don’t delay, his life depends on it!

Together, we can change Zeus’ fate and give him the happy ending he deserves!

P.S. Zeus’ adoption fees are currently waived as part of the shelter’s “Single and Lovin’ It!” promotion. The only additional cost is the NYC dog licensing fee; a small price to pay for a lifetime of love!

Information for a new family to know. At home, Zeus is described as social, affectionate, very active, vocal and playful. He likes to spend his time with people. He enjoys going to the groomers. When walked on a leash, he can be a bit pushy, and most of the time goes for walks three times a day for 20 minutes. He has been crate trained, but does not do well; his crate in his previous home was called “Every day crate.” Getting in and out of the car when going for rides does make him nervous. He does know the following commands: sit, paw, lie down.

As for his favorite times and things to do, Zeus loves when his family is around, loves lying in bed and plays with toys.

Zeus needs emergency placement because he has displayed a high level of anxiety and kennel stress because of the time he has been at the shelter. He does have a history of resource guarding, on leash reactivity and would do best being the only pet in the home. He has NO history of ever biting anyone.

He previously lived with two adults, but is not familiar with children younger than 12-years-old. He has had good interactions with other dogs, but has had no experience with cats.

Zeus is a bit portly – overweight, but has received all of his vaccinations and is microchipped.
