At the Humane Society of Huron Valley, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a nine-year-old gentle Great Dane named Sigrid (Siggy for short) has waited more than 1,454 days to be adopted. Yes, years ago, this sweet dog who loves everyone, had been rescued from a cruelty case which dragged on for nearly four years. Finally, her time has come, and we want to help her find the perfect “low key” home.

As justice seems to just drag along, Siggy had to wait for her chance at being adopted, but that chance never came and she spent her time in “limbo” – and that was after the terrible conditions she had been rescued from, according to the organization’s description.

And for years, Siggy waited while caught up in the legal system. Fortunately, she had an incredible foster home who provided her with the love and support she deserved. Not all dogs are as lucky as Siggy. Some are housed in kennels with little socialization, little exercise and are never given the time to enjoy their lives through absolutely no fault of their own.
Instead of the joyful, carefree life she deserved, she spent her senior years waiting—together with dozens of other animals—caught up in a legal process that stretched the resources of our shelter and delayed her chance to find a forever family. Thankfully, she had an incredibly dedicated foster family! (Not all our cruelty case animals are so lucky.
And, now finally, after so much waiting, HSHV has received the green light to place Sigrid for adoption.
So let’s not waste another minute trying to help Siggy a home. She is gentle, weighs over 100 pounds, is crate trained and eager to please. She loves people and has lived with a cat. She never tries to jump on the furniture. Her foster family tells us she “is a very good, sweet dog.” She is also food motivated.

In addition Siggy is quite strong and can be dog reactive on walks, but when it’s just the two of you, she’s perfect and enjoys walking about a mile. (Good for you too!) She loves toys and is always ready for a game of fetch.

She knows all the essentials: sit, stay, down, shake, and drop it.
Interested in meeting this beauty? Siggy has waited long enough with uncertainty and not being able to live a normal life. Please, help make sure her next chapter is the best one yet. www.hshv.org/adopt www.hshv.org/advocate.
