Furry Friends Refuge, a no-kill animal shelter located in Des Moines, Iowa has been caring for a 14-year-old husky found on Monday in a resident’s front yard. The dog had been wrapped in a blue blanket and was not able to stand or walk.

The dog named Buddha has been receiving veterinarian care. His bloodwork results are within normal range, and he is eating well. He has been administered pain medication, and it is believed until recently he had been mobile.

The veterinarian team is currently working on options that will help Buddha regain his mobility and continue with his life. He is currently being carried around and needs assistance to stand.

He is on medications and starting acupuncture treatments today and some passive physical therapy exercises. We are working to set up laser and hydrotherapy to help him as well.

Buddha suffers from significant muscle atrophy, and it will take time before he hopefully will regain his mobility.

As to Buddha’s past, that still remains unknown, however the information learned regarding how this senior dog had been abandoned on the side of the road wrapped in a blanket will be submitted to the police department for an investigation.

With the dog’s positive bloodwork results, everyone is rooting for him to soon be able to regain his ability to stand and walk.

This senior has been through so much, we are working hard to make sure he can feel love.
