Meet Freja; this stunning Great Dane came into the Carson Animal Care Center as a stray; she was not wearing a collar nor was she microchipped. The shelter has her listed as a senior, but she seems much younger than 10 years old.

This beautiful girl came in as a stray, and she did not have a tag or chip.

According to the shelter, after her arrival and just prior to an assessment, she was given a few minutes to decompress. She presented with a relaxed body, low tail with a soft wag, open mouth pant, natural ear set, and soft eyes. The handler called to Freja, and she approached with a relaxed demeanor allowing the handler to pet her.

The handler proceeded to examine Freja’s ears, mouth, and front paws without issue. The handler then palpated the dog’s abdomen, back, hind legs and tail without incident. Freja maintained a relaxed demeanor throughout the assessment and would lean into the handler’s touch. Freja would also rub her body against the handler’s legs.

Freja is available for public adoption; middle school age kids + recommended with other calm dogs. She seems to be fine with other dogs. Additional information – please click here.

Please share, the shelter is open every day 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and until 7:00 PM on Wednesdays, and you can make an appointment for the morning through the county website.
