Rescue Dogs Rock NYC had stepped up less than two weeks ago in response to a volunteer begging for help with a young stray dog who had been left languishing in pain outside of the door of a Texas school. The dog, Kira had been scavenging for food outside of the school for weeks when she collapsed as a result of dehydration, hunger and pain.
SHE [KIRA] HAS BEEN OUTSIDE A SCHOOL FOR DAYS AND THEY HAVE PROHIBITED FEEDING HER. LAST NIGHT IT RAINED ALL MORNING AND SHE WAS UNDER WATER FOR HOURS. IT SEEMS LIKE SHE CAN’T LOOK OUT OF ONE EYE, AND SHE IS VERY WEAK.

Kira was rushed to the rescue organization’s partner emergency veterinarian where she was administered intravenous fluids and antibiotics. Her will to live? Within just a day, Kira was already wagging her tail and standing on her own for a few minutes. Her medical needs are long, but she continues to make progress.
As to her latest update, we promised we would keep checking with those wonderful volunteers at Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, and we are told, she continues to get stronger and is healing.
She continues to heal and get stronger .
Her eye is healing slowly and will require months of drops to determine if the eye can be saved .
Kira is such a sweet girl , fantastic with all dogs and people .
