At the Dog Tales Rescue in Ontario, our hearts were broken when a 13-year-old Shih Tzu had been surrendered to the shelter after the death of her owner. Magic, the dog, arrived at the shelter and suffers from multiple health issues, but the staff and volunteers forever remain optimistic with the hope that the broken-hearted sweet dog will find a perfect new home where she can enjoy the time she has left.

The viral video moves us to tears, but here’s Magic, and we hope you will help her:

When Magic came to the shelter, it was clear her health issues had been neglected for a long time. Her eyes had been swollen, infected and crusted over. Her fur was badly matted and in desperate need of being cut away as to ease the pain of the serious knotting. She had a ruptured left cruciate, dental disease, allergies, bladder stone, a history of pancreatitis and possible liver disease.

All of Magic’s health issues will have to be addressed before she is ready to be adopted, and the rescue estimates the cost to be about $7,500 for the extensive testing and treatment.

And of course, we are all keeping our fingers crossed that Magic will indeed start feeling better soon. Her viral video has garnered more than 130,000 views. We love senior dogs.
