At the Villalobos Rescue Center in Louisiana, a sweet black and white pittie type puppy had been surrendered in July 2012.

Her owners pulled up in a moving truck, and when they rolled the door open, there was Vanessa. Her family just didn’t want her anymore. Her little life had barely started, and already she was unwanted and minutes away from dying in the back of a sweltering hot box of a truck.

Now here we are 11 years later and Vanessa still waits. She is perfect in every way. Only about 35 lbs, she is dog-friendly, well-behaved in the house, perfectly crate trained, and just…perfect.

No one knows for sure why some dogs find their families immediately, while other dogs – maybe because they aren’t flashy or maybe because they are shy, don’t find their humans for years. No one had ever put in an adoption application for Vanessa.

And there she patiently waited – crate trained, friendly and well-behaved.

If you can find room in your home and heart to give this senior sugar-face a home, her care is covered and paid for by us/VRC in our senior dog program. We take care of everything and all you need to provide is the love and sanctity of your home

It had been on July 14 when Tia Torres from the rescue organization decided to feature Vanessa on their social media page, and as has worked so many times for Pet Rescue Report, the attention Facebook, Instagram and Twitter elicits, the more chances the homeless pets have finding their perfect humans.

Just days later, the good news spread quickly:

UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE – VANESSA HAS A HOME WITH ONE OF OUR FORMER ADOPTERS!!!!

And Vanessa is on her way to Delaware where a former adopter’s two dogs passed away from old age. We are ecstatic for Vanessa knowing she finally has her own home.

So while we have your attention, and you’re smiling at the awesome news, Tia has another senior dog who could use some air time. Meet Pollywog. She’s a black dog, and no one has even noticed her for the last eight years.

Pollywog

This is Pollywog. She has remained one of my favorite dogs here at VRC. Her rescue was featured on one of our episodes of “Pit Bulls & Parolees” yet…no one has ever applied for her.

She is the sweetest, gentlest, softest, most well-behaved angel that has ever walked through the door to Tia’s house. She never barks, never messes her crate, and walks perfectly on a leash; she’s like having a stuffed animal.

Although she does not like being around other dogs (she can only be placed as an only dog, no exceptions), she is amazing with kids. Her signature move is to crawl up next to you and then put both of her front legs around your neck and like a human, hug you. It is the most precious thing you’ve ever seen.

Pollywog is currently living with Tia and would be perfect for someone’s grandma or grandpa, hanging out on the couch or out in the backyard or even going for a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood.

She is my #1 “pick of the litter” and I am not going to let her be forgotten any longer!
