Blondie and her babies are scheduled to be euthanized on July 5th – their “deadline” is just devastating. Five adorable puppies and a mother who loves them, and through no fault of their own, will soon lose their lives.

According to BARC, Blondie is extremely stressed.

Check out the family here:

This is what we know about Blondie. According to shelter notes, she was picked up by animal control when she charged and scared the neighbors. No one came to the shelter to claim her and residents said she had been a stray in the neighborhood. More than likely she was being protective of her puppies. Who knows if anyone had tried to get too close to her or if neighborhood kids tried to taunt her? And now at the shelter, Blondie has become even more protective of her puppies. She needs a rescue organization or foster to provide her with a quiet place to decompress.

Blondie’s puppies are approximately three to four weeks old. One of the puppies has possible ringworm on her tail and left rear paw. (A1886024). She has not suffered any hair loss at this time.

Blondie ID#A1886029

Puppies are named Greenie, Brownie, Bluey, Goldie and Pinkie. ID#s A1886023-27. They are listed as “staffie mixes” each weighing approximately 2.8-3.7 pounds.

During volunteer interaction, Blondie did not make any aggressive moves; just watched intently. The puppies are very social, like to interact and play and appeared to be quite healthy. Even when the volunteer picked up one of the puppies for a quick snuggle, Blondie did not react.

Volunteers for BARC’s Urgent Pets is sharing the plight of this sweet family who will soon perish if help doesn’t arrive. Pledges to help the dogs once they are released to an approved rescue organization often helps rescuers with the high cost of veterinarians and care.

Please contact BARC if you are local and can help. They cannot assist out of state foster or adoption offers.

  1. I hate kill “shelters”. So glad our shelter no longer kills. We share our dogs with other no kill shelters. Our very long term dogs and cats are sent to other shelters where they might find a family. Shelters that kill are just to lazy to work with other shelters. Texas is the worse because they get paid per pound by the rendering plants. LA, CA is the same way. Dead pets are just a commodity to them. I guess Houston stopped shipping dogs and cats to Edinburg…and from Edinburg they get sold to the rendering plant right next door!!!

  2. I wish I were local……. That family would be at my house in a heartbeat……. Sadly I am in Washington state and can’t foster them.

It totally breaks my heart to see a beautiful family euthanized for lack of a local foster home.
