At the Los Angeles West Valley Animal Shelter, the staff and volunteers were able to get together and bring a little comfort to two seniors whose previous owner should never be allowed to have a companion animal ever again. The owner of these two bonded dogs turned them into shelters at two different locations claiming he “found” the dogs.
Sadly, it’s not as if the seniors had been well-cared-for and possibly their owner had encountered some bad times. Both dogs have bad teeth, and one of the dogs borders on obesity. Both have calluses that come from lying on concrete day and night, and both dogs have limited vision -likely just a result of old age.
These two precious souls, who we have affectionately named Woody and Heaven, have clearly had a difficult life before ending up in our care.
Woody and Heaven arrived the same day at two different times by the same person. This person stated that they were “found” at two different locations.
Something seems fishy to me. It was the owner that brought them in, right?
Anyhow, they are both kenneled together and are like two peas in a pod! Now they seem to be inseparable and clearly bonded through their shared experiences.
They both bear signs of neglect and hardship, with bad teeth and being overweight. They have callused sores from laying on concrete and their vision is that of an older dog.
It’s tough to imagine, after all the many years of unconditional love these two souls gave their “owner” this would be the situation they end up in.
We are optimistic someone will have the heart to rescue these two loving creatures together!

Fortunately, the shelter recognized these dogs were not two strays found in different locations. Since then, the dogs have been kenneled together and now have each other again to comfort them in their terrible time of loneliness and need.
