A 10-year-old Chihuahua, who likely won the doggie lottery when a Chicago based rescue organization saved him from euthanasia, has gone viral after One More Dog Rescue posted a tongue-in-cheek Facebook message recently.

We’ve done it. We have found him. *THE* most adoptable dog on the planet. There is a not a soul on earth who will not want to apply for him. We have won the game of rescue.

Meet Lord Herald. He is about 10 years old. He has a severe heart murmur. He has a persistent cough we’ve been treating with medication. Oh and he’s a big biter. Loves to bite. Don’t worry though the guy has zero teeth so instead it’s just like a sad gummy kiss. Also… the excitement from latching on brings on a coughing fit. Yes, you can laugh. No, we’re not going to euthanize him because of behavior. He is decrepit and harmless. We feel confident he can bring someone to peak TikTok fame.

One More Dog Rescue began in 2017 and keeps 40 to 50 dogs at a time. Lord Herald had been rescued from a local shelter after his family no longer wanted to care for him because of his grade 3 heart murmur and his breathing issues. After a complete physical, veterinarians stated the pooch was not in any pain and prescribed medication for his heart condition.

The feisty pup tried to bite one of the rescue coordinators, but since he has no teeth, Lord Herald’s days of chomping on fingers are long gone. He does like to relax, cuddle and watch the world go by. Snapping at his foster mom’s ankles seems to be one of his favorite activities. He is quite demanding – “barks” orders depending on how he feels. Still, he’s a loving old soul and deserves a loving home.

On Facebook, more than 2,000 viewers have commented on Lord Herald’s plight with more than 5.6 thousand shares. Many rescuers posted photos of their own little demon pooches – never forgetting to add however, how much these quirky little pooches are loved and adored. There have been numerous inquiries asking to adopt Lord Herald; he does have special medical issues, so his new family has to be able to attend to his physical needs also.

Leah RomeClearly some of yall never owned a chihuahua before.. mine is 16 yrs old I rescued him at 1yr. He’ also has a severe heart murmur/ Heart disease, also has like 4 teeth mostly gums. But doesn’t stop his rebellious side.. these chihuahuas are strong little guys , love them so much.. And he absolutely does deserve to be tiktok famous because who doesn’t?

Reminds me of my old man I just lost in May. He was 18, completely blind and deaf and worth every second we put into keeping him as long as possible. Senior pups are the best!

  1. Too funny, gave me a Christmas laugh. My mom and I had raised chihuahua’s for over 50 years and last month she passed away at 91. Before passing she called to little Tequila a 2 pound chihuahua that started our love for these feisty little fellows and gals in the 1970’s. I have several rescue chihuahua’s that like to bite and I wouldn’t have it any different. This little baby can come live with me, he’d fit right in with the other 4 I have right now.
