Animal Aid Unlimited is a rescue-center, hospital and sanctuary for stray street animals in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. Their work can be overwhelming, but it’s never too late for love. Here’s just a sample of four elderly street dogs given the care and love they needed to heal – both physically and emotionally.

Sadly, when many of these elderly dogs are injured, they no longer are able to care for themselves. Volunteers from Animal Aid Unlimited have been able to change the lives of Prince, Ziggy, Cooper and Masala; the weary warriors of the streets trying so hard just to survive another day.

Prince was found lying near some piles of trash crying in pain. He was not able to move and because he could not stand would not have lasted much longer. Rescuers arrived, wrapped him carefully in blankets and brought him back to the hospital.

Next came Cooper. He was found lying in a drain with a severe ear infection and covered in mange. His rescuers arrived in the nick of time. Cooper had just been waiting to die.

Marsala was found by local village residents hiding in a deserted area. He suffered from a severe facial wound; his eye had been swollen shut as a result of the raging infection. Being an old dog, he didn’t have much of a chance, but someone saw and someone said something. Rescuers arrived in the nick of time.

And then there was Ziggy. That old guy had been hit by a car and wasn’t able to walk. Good Samaritans rushed over to help him, but he needed emergency care for the bleeding and possible internal injuries.

All four dogs will never be homeless again. They now spend their time at the sanctuary and have likely never enjoyed life as much as they do now. Being retired isn’t so bad…

This is what care, love and your donations do:
