In a heartbreaking video of a dog from the Orange County Animal Services in Florida, photographer Albert Harris (@aharrisphoto) triggered our tears when he videoed a senior dog alone in his kennel, and although the shelter had been bustling with action, absolutely no one even glanced in the direction of this poor boy.

You’re the longest resident slowly losing hope because you’re being ignored and not being that desirable dog people want.

Imagine being in a kennel with no to little interaction. This is the case for Sarge. Let’s get him a home. #adoptdontshop #animalshelter #shelterdog #dogtok

According to the shelter, Sarge (A496376) is a 75-pound, seven-year-old pup who had been brought to the shelter with another dog. At first, the two seemed to have done fine, but now Sarge doesn’t want to share his kennel with anyone else. He’s sweet and gentle as can be with people, but hasn’t done well in playgroups.

Sarge has been at the shelter since July 3, after having been surrendered by his owner.

And now Sarge really needs to be in a home because shelter life is no place for a big hearted and friendly boy. His perfect human will be very patient and work on Sarge’s behavior and attitude. Although he can be willful and dominant, he is also very gentle and loyal. Sarge will need time to adjust to a home – that’s for sure.

So if you’re looking for a big guy with a big heart, and you’re willing to be patient and help him become a successful canine citizen with lots of time, training and love, Sarge is your boy.

According to Newsweek, Harris explained how social media videos create interest, and with so many dogs in the United States that need homes, anyway that can bring attention to them is a perfect additional tool.

Our responses have been awesome. However the video does go to a broad audience all over the world. It has worked in our favor so far, getting every animal we have featured adopted.

Even with more than 4-million views, Sarge still doesn’t have a home. So please, everyone share his plight with friends, family and social media contacts. If you’re interested in this special boy, contact [email protected] or call 407.836.3111 and reference Sarge at A496376.
