Texas – Two people, including one who claimed to be an animal transporter, were discovered with multiple malnourished and injured dogs inside of a stolen U-Haul in late August. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Tiara Alsaid pretended to run a transport business to deliver animals cross country to their owners – but she was actually stealing dogs and selling them.

On August 30, Alsaid was in a stolen U-Haul with Anthony Johnson, 57. Officials found multiple dogs in “deplorable” conditions inside of the vehicle; the dogs were malnourished and suffering from a multitude of injuries, including suspected chemical burns. The animals were crammed inside filthy crates, covered in feces and urine, and had no access to food or water.

Alsaid was arrested and she is facing charges of theft and animal cruelty, in addition to drug charges. Johnson, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested for possession of marijuana. The dogs were seized ad are being held until they can be returned to their rightful owners.
