In Flint, Michigan, Max was abandoned in a vacant house. He stared out the window and begged for help. He watched as other dogs were being rescued from the same horrendous situation, and he patiently waited for his turn. He waited for days; he was hungry, frightened and alone. His turn didn’t come!
Unfortunately, what should have been Max’s rescue at that time turned out to be a failure. A street rescue had posted on social media that they were taking Max, but that turned out not to be true. Instead, Max remained in the house which had become his prison.
A social media post summarized the tragic story:
Thank God someone stepped up and saved this poor dog! I’ve been following this story from the original person that was supposed to get him out of there and I have offered to go into that house myself and get him. It is disgusting that this poor dog was left in that home for so long. Yes, he was being fed and let outside to go to the bathroom but that was after 3 weeks in the home without food or water. THANK YOU FOR SAVING HIM!

Fortunately, Detroit Dog Rescue had been informed of Max’s desperate need to be rescued. The non-profit animal advocacy and rescue organization were able to finalize the dog’s legal surrender documents and rushed to an emergency veterinarian hospital for life saving treatment.
What matters most now is that you are safe in our arms and you won’t be left behind again. What matters now is that I’m not going to judge you humans right now, they had their own struggles. What matters now is that you will get the medical care for your eyes before you go blind.

Max will be scheduled for costly surgery and the medical needs and care he never received. Max will never be forgotten again.
