At the Devore Animal Shelter in California, it’s truly hard to understand why the shelter named an already fearful little dog “Scrooge”? This poor pup is truly scared of the world, so why name him something so negative sounding? It’s almost cruel, but that doesn’t change how desperately he needs a chance.
Scrooge arrived at the shelter on January 11. His advocate described her two encounters and how the little pup “put on his brave:”

the first time i met him, he stayed far back in the kennel, unsureand anxious, too scared to accept treats or approach even when spoken to gently. But today, he came forward, so brave! It was a huge step for this little guy who has clearly been through a lot. He’s showing that spark of hope, but now he’s facing the ultimate fear; the euthanasia list.
Scrooge is described as a three-year-old white and tan terrier mix who needs someone with patience and experience with fearful dogs. He would do best in a calm, secure foster home or rescue who can help him build on the tiny bit of courage he demonstrated just the other day with the volunteer.

His moment of bravery proves he has the will to heal and desire to trust. He deserves the chance to feel safe, valued and cared for; not to be forgotten at a crowded shelter until his time is up.
Please share his plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
