The Rehoboth Police and Animal Control rescued six Shih Tzus abandoned in two crates and left near Reynolds Avenue near Glenmore Lane in Rehoboth, Massachusetts early in the morning on June 5.
According to the Rehoboth Police Department’s Facebook page, officers first responded to a report that three small dogs had been left in a crate on the side of the road.
Rehoboth Animal Control Officers responded to the scene and took custody of the three dogs. Shortly thereafter, the Rehoboth Police Department received a second report regarding three additional dogs that had been left in a crate near 150 Reynolds Avenue.
All six dogs were brought to the Rehoboth Animal Shelter. They were provided with food and water and are receiving the care they need.
Please know there are resources available in nearly every Massachusetts community to assist pet owners who find themselves in situations where they can no longer care for their pets. Perhaps in this case, the owner had been breeding Shih Tzus and for whatever reasons left these poor dogs alone on a road in cages with no food or water.
This is all unacceptable treatment, is illegal and can lead to serious consequences both for the pets and their owners.
