Meet Khatra, a four-year-old German shepherd, who arrived at the Riverside County Animal Control – Riverside Shelter on January 20, 2026. She entered the shelter after she had been found as a stray on Mockingbird Canyon Road.
Khatra’s family never came to her rescue, and on January 22, she gave birth to 11 puppies.

- 01/20/26 16:26 NLT, BAR, appears pregnant, F est age 4yr, mc scan -. Gave vectra, bord, dhlpp.
- 01/22/26 09:01- per VA observed Mom in active labor, will continue to monitor
- 01/22/26 14:16 Mom had 11 babies. Was brought up. Offered mom food and she was interested with the wet food mixed with churru on top. Appears stressed. OK to RX 600mg Gabapentin PO BID x 7 days per Dr.
- 01/23/26 11:59 Staff report patient has dark, soft stools with mucous. Kennel had been cleaned; therefore unable to collect samples to process tests at this time. Recommend processing fecal tests when time permits and when stools available. Prescribed Fortiflora SID x 10 days per protocol.
