Animal advocates refuse to sit back and let Sunday, March 22, 2026 be the end of the story for Parker without a fight. This dog deserves a chance, and it’s about time Parker can finally experience something positive.

Parker arrived at the Devore Shelter in California as a stray on March 16. The shelter confirmed animal control officers used a catch pole on him, and it is quite apparent from the hemorrhaging on his right eye, this could have easily been the cause of the injury and subsequent pain. Parker’s jaw also looks compromised, and it is questionable whether that resulted before or during intake. Regardless, this heartbreaking photo just adds to the tough and unfair life this innocent victim of cruelty and neglect has had to endure.

It’s sadly ironic that Parker had been waiting until March 21, when he would become available for adoption, but for dogs like this boy, his “hold until date” doesn’t mean safety. It has come to be a particular look for those dogs like Parker – dirty, very scared and captured by strangers wondering why he put up a fight.

It just doesn’t seem as if Parker ever stood a chance.
Before he ever made it into the shelter, you can already see this boy hasn’t had an easy life. His body tells that story for him. Wounds, a dull coat, the kind of wear that doesn’t come from one bad day, but from many. From time spent without care, without comfort, without someone looking out for him.
And now he’s here.
A volunteer met Parker on Saturday and stated the dog appeared visibly overwhelmed in the shelter environment. He needs immediate help, and time is not on his side.

He is only available to an approved rescue due to “behavior.” What is the most difficult about Parker’s situation, is he has not known much kindness. And now, just as he has been brought to a shelter where conceivably he could be helped, his life is already scheduled to end.

He needs time. He needs care. He needs someone to see him.
Instead, he has a deadline.
Shelter notes:
3/21/26 – Upon approach of kennel pet stays in place attempting to hide face in corner. With a short time of handler staying near and talking with dog, dog relaxed enough to eat treats that were tossed to them. Dog never moved towards handler to solicit any social contact. When handler opened kennel door, dog became highly uncomfortable with low growls and looking to escape the kennel. Unable to safely handle.

All of us refuse to sit back and let this be the end of his story without a fight. Parker deserves more than this.
Please share him everywhere. He is going to need all the help he can get right now.
