Just a few weeks ago, Stan was dumped at Chicago Animal Control by his owner. Sadly, his owner had been “too busy” to take the extra five or ten minutes to fill out the information sheet for Stan, which would have given the shelter additional information to help the sweet dog find a new home.

So there he was … poor Stan wasn’t even given any respect; just a breathing commodity a heartless owner wanted to dump off as quickly as possible.
The shelter staff has estimated Stan’s age to be closer to two years:

Stan is not young, he is calm and polite, he is trained and is probably 5-6 years old. He is a nice dog, and likes other dogs, and he is wondering where is his family?
Let’s face it; Stan only has a slim chance of leaving the shelter. He’s not a puppy, he’s black and the shelter is overcrowded. Hearts are broken because it’s quite apparent how lonely he is and how he doesn’t understand why his family has abandoned him.
The staff and volunteers have made Stan one of their favorites. He is calm, has middle of the road energy and possesses that kind of presence that makes people stop and want to meet and pet him. He knows his basic commands, does well on a leash and gets along with other dogs.
…takes treats gently and loves leaning in close for pets, plus he has the cutest sideways sit.
Stan’s adoption fee is waived, and he’s ready for someone to call dibs and make him part of the family. Please share his plight with friends, family, approved rescue organizations and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
For more information:
2741 S Western Ave
Adoption hours: 12–7 p.m. daily (arrive by 5:30 p.m.)
If you live in the City of Chicago, there’s a $5 dog license fee that cannot be waived.
Stan’s been waiting… maybe he’s been waiting for you.
