In Chester, Pennsylvania, the SPCA along with city investigators, executed a search warrant after a viral video appeared on social media showing a woman pouring a substance onto cat food plates.
The video, which went viral over the weekend, appears to show a woman pouring from what looks like a bleach bottle onto the piles of cat food left for one of the well-known neighborhood cats. As the woman poured the suspected poison, the cat approached to smell it.

The cat seen in the video, Jumper, is 16-years-old and has been known for years by Good Samaritans along Rose Street. He is owned by a neighbor, Olivia Oliver. Although, Jumper has seemingly not eaten from the plates where the woman was seen pouring the liquid, there are other stray cats who are regularly fed in the area by volunteers.
The video has been reported to the Pennsylvania SPCA, which quickly launched an investigation.
According to Gillian Kocher with the PSPCA:
… officers have been out there. We have executed a search warrant. We are pending lab results to determine what the next steps are.
Investigators have ordered the substance to be tested in order to determine what the unnamed person has been seen pouring. It is currently not known if the liquid was bleach or another liquid which could poison or injure animals.
Juniper’s owner is making sure the cat doesn’t go anywhere and has taken extra precautions to keep him on the porch.
At this time the Pennsylvania SPCA Animal Law Enforcement Team is asking everyone to be patient while the investigation continues:
…we kindly ask that you refrain from flooding our phone lines and inboxes with inquiries about this specific case. The investigation is already a priority – every message about this case makes it harder for us to properly respond to new reports about other animals who may be in urgent need of help right now.
