Dog becomes hero after leading owner to crate with 4 abandoned kittens

Meet Goose; he doesn’t wear a cape, but he’s surely a hero. The golden retriever’s heroism began a few months ago on a Texas trail while on his morning walk with his owner, Daisy Phillips.

Goose loved his walks, and this time was no different, except he stopped short in one particular area. He had zeroed in on something off the usual well-traveled trail. Daisy initially dismissed his eagerness to explore, thinking the dog had smelled another dog nearby.

Goose, however wasn’t giving up on his enthusiasm to explore further. He pulled Daisy towards a hidden, wooded ditch slightly off the path. And that’s where Daisy spotted a bright pink kennel crate that had been dumped in the ditch. At first she thought it was just where someone dumped some trash, but moments later realized, there were four kittens zip-tied inside the crate.

The kittens had no food or water, and would not have been able to escape. Daisy immediately called her family for help lifting the crate out of the deep hole. Then they gave the survivors food and water before contacting the Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center.

The cats, later named Ginger, Sporty, Baby and Posh have been under the rescue organization’s care.

Lots of snacks for Goose!
