At the Monmouth County SPCA, three-pound Firefox continues to fight for his life. Just two days ago, he had been abandoned on the side of a road in Marlboro, New Jersey; he had been left in a crate and was not able to walk.

When discovered, veterinarians rated his frail and emaciated body condition score as 1/9 – the lowest rating just short of dying.

While law enforcement hunts for the person who did this, the rescue organization is fighting to keep his tiny body strong. With a body score of “1” and blood sugar levels four times the normal limit from pure trauma, his recovery will be long and costly.

Firefox has already survived two critical nights in emergency care and will need round-the-clock monitoring. While his medical issues are currently secondary to severe starvation and neglect, his road to recovery is long.

Donations to help Firefox will be used for his hospital care, physical therapy to help him walk again, specialized diet for a careful weight regaining plan and his ongoing medical care. Every donation is a small part of his rescue story.
He’s fought to stay alive – now it’s our turn to fight for him.
