In East Brookfield, Massachusetts, dozens of Golden Retrievers puppies are available for adoption through Second Chance Animal Services.
Three litters of the breed were rescued with their mothers, from an alleged backyard breeder in New York. The other rescue organization had taken in 56 dogs. According to reports, the conditions the dogs and puppies had been living in were awful, and the rescuers sent over to bring the puppies to safety described the location as one of the worst they had ever seen.

Even after the rescue of the 56 dogs, officers had to return to the home and pick up 13 more puppies in need of immediate care.
As soon as the news and the photos of the puppies started to circulate on social media, the rescue organization was inundated with thousands of adoption surveys.

These dogs were being kept in deplorable conditions by a so-called backyard breeder. The moms had likely never even been allowed outdoors. It was tragic…but now they are getting their second chance!
Since we had foster homes that specifically will help with mom and puppies is how we were able to take them in while still being able to, you know, business as usual at the adoption center.
The team at Second Chance Animal Services estimates the cost of caring for these puppies to cost from $15,000 to $20,000. That makes community support crucial.
We know many of you will be interested in adopting… Please check out all the other pups who need homes too.
