At the Rockdale County Ga Animal Control, Candy Crush had been abandoned by her family. They left her tied to a pole outside of the shelter in the middle of a cold night. In between her front legs, which had been curled underneath her in an attempt to stay warm, was a unapologetic note:
We are moving. Euthanize her.
According to shelter personnel, it had been 5:30 a.m. when the animal control officer found her; it was so obvious to see that Candy Crush’ soul had been shattered. The dog crawled right into the officer’s lap, and all she wanted was love.

The staff at the shelter treated her with love, but know one knew why Candy Crush was so unhappy. She had been hurting herself in the kennel. She had been suffering from heavy anxiety and became aggressive towards other dogs. At one point she refused to eat. No matter how many times she was fed, she continued to lose weight.
What chance did Candy Crush have of finding a new home? Who would want her? Who would love her? Sadly, with no solutions and limited shelter funds, the shelter had made the difficult decision to euthanize her. Friday was to be her last day.
All she wanted was love. At least she received this last moment of kindness. There will be no more walks, no more hugs, no more playtime…
Rescuers, however weren’t giving up! Candy Crush’ cry for help was heard! Cany Crush was to become one of the dogs Humans And Animals United knew needed them.

Here is her freedom video as she leaves the shelter today:
Rescue work can be difficult.
“Seeing our girl leave with such a broken heart has shown us that we do make a difference in the world of rescue. She really needed us. We do not know what exactly happened to Candy Crush, but we do know that the staff at the shelter treated her with love and care. What we didn’t show in our post is how broken this girl was.
Candy Crush was hurting herself in her kennel. Blood on the walls and cuts all over her. She had heavy anxiety and aggression towards dogs. Thanks to the staff at the shelter, Candy was able to open up and be ok with dogs.
Candy Crush is one of the many dogs who needed help at the shelter. We can not save them all, but we did make a difference with this girl. Rescuing responsibly, a plan set in place to guarantee a brilliant future for Candy.”
