In Hickory, North Carolina, a blind dog was luckily found by a Good Samaritan and saved before he was struck and killed by a passing vehicle. The adorable Shih Tzu was taken to the Humane Society of Catawba County, and in spite of the challenges he has been faced with, this little dog is friendly and loving.
And now Teddy is ready for a home, and it is hoped someone will look at his photos, read his story and fall in love.

despite everything, his heart is wide open. He’s playful, sweet and just wants to be near someone who cares.
The two-year-old friendly pooch was brought to the shelter in late April. He had been trying to maneuver around a busy street in Newton. Fortunately, the kind person brought him to the shelter.
Teddy hasn’t had it easy. According to the dog’s veterinarian, Teddy was born blind as a result of a genetic deformity. His eyes will need to be surgically removed to prevent ongoing pain and infection. And if that isn’t challenging enough for this most adorable and loveable little guy, he’s also heartworm positive and will need months of treatment.

As his rescuers tell us, Teddy’s “heart is wide open.” He is housetrained, dog and cat friendly, is gentle with everyone and adores people. He likes to play and is just so happy around people who talk to him and reassure him the world is really a kind place.
Teddy could use a halo for blind dogs; a simple tool that helps him navigate the world without getting hurt. If you would like to donate one or help cover the cost, it would be greatly appreciated.
