Defeated Sprout wore ‘best friend’ harness when found as stray needs new forever best friend

Spread the love

It had been a sad and tearful day for the staff when Sprout had been brought into a local animal control in Plainfield, Illinois, wearing a “best friend” harness. He was never claimed, and when brought to Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue he looked defeated and afraid.

Sprout seems always to be watching and waiting for a new family so he can once again wear that vest proudly, but it’s been more than 145 days. The volunteers and staff at the rescue know he’s going to be the perfect companion for the right person, and everyone is looking forward to that first meet and greet followed by an application to adopt.

A letter to Sprout

please don’t give up. We see your depression and the hope leaving your eyes. Just hold on a little longer. Your family is coming. We just know it …

Here’s a preview of Sprout in adorable pup action:

Characteristics: Affectionate, Friendly, Playful, Smart, Athletic

Health Vaccinations: up to date, spayed / neutered.

Prefers a home without children. (or at least 13 years of age)

I’m a handsome 51-pound black and white pittie mix, and yeah, I know what you’re thinking… ‘Black dog, male, pitbull” blah blah blah. But I’m telling you—I’m the exception. I’m the goodest boy who just needs someone to give me a real chance.

In addition:

I keep my kennel clean. I’ve been working with a trainer and I know my stuff—commands, tricks, the whole deal. I take treats gently, and I love showing off for snacks. I’m super smart, super loyal, and I love attention. Oh—and water? Obsessed. Splash pad? I’m there. Hose? Spray me all day. I’m a total water dog.

Sprout gets along with some other dogs (a proper meet is a must!), and he would do best with a strong, confident leader who knows dogs and is ready for a buddy who wants to learn and please. He’s charming, silly and full of potential.

Sprout’s adoption fee is sponsored, thanks to Pound Town Boarding and Daycare in Plainfield. They believe in him, and we hope you will too.

How about a meet and greet? Sprout would love to be sleeping on the family couch again. He just wants a new best friend who will love and care for him forever.

Please share Sprout’s plight with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
