Meet Charlie; yes, he’s a senior canine citizen at 11-years-old, but he sure would love to have a family of his own and know what it feels like to be loved.

Two years ago, Charlie arrived at the Babylon Animal Shelter in Amityville, New York. He loves being around people and adores being doted upon and showing how affectionate and loving he is.

Way back when, Charlie used to have a home, but one terrible day, his world was turned upside down. His human didn’t always treat him very well, and when it got really scary, Charlie’s owner was charged by the state with neglect. It was difficult for Charlie living in a home where he rarely walked on a leash; he pretty much had been on his own to go wherever he wanted. On more than one occasion without supervision from his owner, he got into a scuffle with other dogs. His human was then summoned to court, and it was ruled by the judge that Charlie be surrendered to the shelter and be given a chance to find a family out of New York State

If Charlie could choose the perfect home, it would be one with lots of love. Kids are fun too, but please no other fur sisters or brothers – Charlie is the only pet kind of pup.

And Charlie’s quite smart and knows his basic commands, but he could use some one on one training. Heaven would be a home with a yard with a self-locking gate – and just to make sure – tall enough so Charlie can’t jump over and secure enough in the ground, Charlie can’t dig his way under the fencing.
