It had been in Rialto, California, towards the end of September when Faith Easdale spotted a tiny stray dog wearing a filthy pink dress sitting on the side of a busy street. Passersby said the tiny dog had been in that spot for days; more than likely she had been waiting for her family to return and wasn’t going to take a chance they couldn’t find her.
So there she sat – in the same spot, absolutely sure they just momentarily forgot and would be returning for her soon.
She was abandoned in her little dirty dress
Staying right there waiting
It’s a sight I will never forget
To see this little girl huddled and terrified in the weeds thinking I was a scary stranger
Multiple people had reported the heartbreaking situation to Faith. And when she arrived, there in a cuddled ball was the small pup; hidden in the bushes and behind a log to make her nearly invisible. Faith quietly walked towards her; there she was – the saddest sight. Faith and her team set up the baby gates, and as she got closer to the dog, it was easy to see how frightened she was.
No doubt, this frightened little pup was more than ready to be rescued. Once she was caught and settled down, she crawled into Faith’s lap and gently gave her hero kisses of gratitude.
She was named Sugar, and that night, Faith removed the dirty pink dress, gave her a warm and delicious dinner and the softest bed to cuddle in and sleep soundly. The next day was “SPA DAY” and just those two three-letter words are great reasons to smile – albeit human or pup.
i feel like this is the turning point so many times. Like a little Cinderella story. Giving them a second chance is what keeps us doing this. Keeps pushing and hoping for better days.

She has had the best of care from her amazing foster home, but we all know – there’s nothing better than to walk through the front door of your own home. So guess what? If you guessed, Sugar now has her own home, you’re right!
