In Andover, Massachusetts, there was a heartwarming turn of events, when a DoorDash driver in Andover became an unexpected hero after discovering an abandoned puppy on his delivery route. The unidentified driver had been making a delivery on Acorn Drive on March 25, when he spotted a small, whimpering ball of fur huddled by the side of the road.

Immediate Action:

Compassionate and quick-thinking, the driver immediately pulled over to check on the vulnerable puppy. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that the animal had been abandoned. Without hesitation, the driver scooped up the scared pup and brought it into his car.

The driver stopped and knocked on the door of a nearby home believing it was their dog, but the person answering the door had never seen the dog before.

Ensuring the Puppy’s Well-Being:

And it soon became the priority of the driver to make sure the puppy was safe. He contacted Andover MA Animal Control to report the rescue and inquire about next steps. Officer Katie Kozikowski was incredibly grateful the rescuer’s kindness and offered to take the puppy in.

The puppy had suffered a leg injury, and it was unknown if the injury had been new or from birth. The 12-week-old puppy had no microchip or identification, and no one called to claim the puppy as her owner.

After notifying surrounding town ACOs, sending notifications to missing dog web pages and working with Door Dash’s Law Enforcement response team, we were unsuccessful in finding this pup’s original owners.
