In Bentonville, Arkansas, it took more than 500 days before Neo found his forever home, but his story is an inspiration for all of us, reminding us to never give up.

Neo’s story began in 2022 when he was seized by police from a home where the dog had been severely abused. Neo was taken to a shelter in North Little Rock; he had to wait until his court case came up on the calendar.

When Neo arrived, he was defensive, injured and fearful, however the shelter volunteers and staff never gave up. After 468 days at the shelter, Neo went to The Best Friends In Northwest Arkansas where he was welcomed last summer. He then left for his foster home who had been patiently working through his special needs.

There are many great people who poured their lives and faith into this boy, from the Animal Control Officer, who carried him around like a baby and the other shelter staff who all signed the car that hung on his kennel to let the world know that he was loved, to the Best Friends shelter team who took a leap of faith to bring him to us, the lifesaving team who cared for and loved him while he was here, the wonderful foster family who gave him his first safe and loving home, and of course Linda Birdsong, who adopted and loves Neo now.

The Best Friends In Northwest Arkansas welcomed Neo in last summer where he received care and lots of attention; it had been his foster home who had been working through his special needs.

This is such a happy ending. One dog at a time, folks. Together we can do it!

Please foster, adopt, volunteer, advocate, or donate to your local shelters and help them create more happy endings for dogs like Neo.
