The appalling video of a helpless donkey being pulled along by a rope tied tightly around its mouth and attached to the back of a vehicle has gone viral. The disturbing incident occurred in Edenderry, County Offaly, Ireland late last week. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan was able to stop the cruelty after screaming at the driver to stop.

According to My Lovely Horse Rescue, a witness videoed the donkey being dragged along the shoulder of the road towards a main intersection. The donkey could be seen slipping on the wet grass, and in the video posted to the organization’s Facebook page, we could hear a rescue volunteer screaming at the driver to “F***ing stop! What’s wrong with you?”

The donkey, who was tightly bound around his mouth and ears, struggled to stay on his feet and nearly slipped and fell numerous times until the treacherous treatment was over. The donkey could be heard neighing as it struggled to stay on its feet. And as much as the animal tried to dig his hooves into the grassy path, he couldn’t stop the vehicle.

For almost a minute the brave Good Samaritan of this story attempted to catch the attention of the driver until she finally screamed at the person, and the vehicle stopped.

Local authorities have since seized the donkey and shared a photo of the donkey being transported to the rescue. Finally, he was safe.
